Lake Como
“A Different Kind Of Beautiful “
So here I am once again in “Italia land” and this wonderful place is reconfirming my love for Italy. We stayed in the town of Bellagio and were guests of the Hotel Du Lac. Which is situated on the main thoroughfare. Basically centered in the heartbeat of the town. Where the countless number of cafes, restaurants and Mom and Pop stores that carry handmade specialties. Wooden bowls and spoons beautifully carved out of olive trees in solid pieces. Silk scarfs designed by local artists with the paintings sitting next to them. Shoe makers making custom shoes. Just outstanding places all lined up between the buildings with 150 stairs that led you to the next level of more shopping.
The hills that surround the town are filled with grapevines and villas that have magnificent landscapes with manicured gardens. At the base of the town along the lake, there are promenades to stroll down with flowering trees to take in all the scenery.
After visiting Zürich it was nice to be back in a friendly environment. Hotel Du Lac is all family run and owned. (You can see a pattern here) It seems to be what I seek out in small towns like this one. Again they only proved my point. It was the way to go. A small hotel with service that was 5 star. They couldn’t be more helpful and gracious. My husband ended up in the hospital over night and they made every accommodation they could when we returned to the hotel. Just ask and it was done with pleasure. Just to mention he is doing fine now.
Bellagio is the perfect spot to hop around the lake. The ferry pulls in and out every half an hour or so, to just about every town on the lake. Each one having its own special charm.

George Clooney’s House

Hotel where Hotel Casino was shot (Now is a private residents)
We took a fabulous private boat tour around the lake with Moreno the owner and captain of Aquadulsa with a Venetian water taxi. He is located in Varenna, Lake Como. It was a gorgeous day and he made it possible to share there’s pictures with you. Fun was had by all!
Why do I call it a “Diffrent Kind Of Beautiful“? I have visited many parts of Italy and most places and you can put your finger on what it is like. Tuscany-vineyards and quiet, Almifi Coast Beautiful ocean-great seafood, Florence Beautiful buildings with so much culture, Rome-traffic. You get my point.
So please join us in Lake Como. Set back and take in the scenery!
Arrivederci amici midi! Till next time.
