Hello Winnenden

We arrived in Stuttgart and it was a typical European city with a lot of traffic, construction and motorcycles. Then out of the blue we made a hard right, off the main highway around the bend, then up a hill, then say hello to the little town of Winnenden.
This beautiful picturesque town is nestled in hills of grapevines and orchids. It’s like something you would see in the movies.
We are visiting our friends Evelyn & Siggi and there son Patrick.

Watching the sunrise gave me that Tuscan feeling. The air, crisp and clean with no humidity. If this is anything like our weather is going to be while we are here, it’s going to be more amazing than I thought.
I don’t know if any of you are car buffs, but even if you’re not into the Mercedes museum it is a great place to visit. Did you know that Mercedes was the first to develop the automobile? Who knew? They went through decades of rises and falls. They show all of this by taking you through a history timeline. It parallels with what was going on the world at the time and if you’re not into history the cars are amazing. They even have a Pope Mobile on display.
This is festival season for Europe and we went to one last night. It was very special. This very small town gathered through the city. Big bands playing music, everyone enjoying each other’s company. There was nothing but smiles of warmth and hospitality, Everyone just happy to be there.
This is Sophia and Lena I met them in the town square enjoying the festivities.
Just having a glimpse of what I saw has shown me why people can fall in love with Germany!
Till next time
Only a few hours from Stuggart by 140 mph rocket ship (car) down the autobahn is the city of Munich. A very beautiful old city. Sights of churches built in the 900’s and majestic town hall. It turns you back in time. The market place was amazing. They sold everything from cheeses from around the world to every kind of meat you could imagine, mushrooms, fish, even fresh flowers. And there is of course the world famous
Hofbrauhaus! With your giant steins, stained glass windows and last but not least your ump-a band!
Come take a walk through Munich with me.
Nestled in the Bavarian Alps peering through the mountain tops like a mirage, stands Schloss Neuschwanstein (Castle). It was the model for the castle in Disneyworld.
It was built in 1848 by “crazy “ King Ludwig II. I have never seen a building that left me awh as this one did. His thrown room had Murels the reflected “Lords Of God”, With his throne sitting on an alter.
The Minstrel’s Hall was impressive. With massive chandeliers embellished with jewels and gold. ( sorry no pictures they were not allowed )
As you look out the castle windows and see the panoramic view, you feel like royalty looking over the kingdom. These are the things that fairytales are made of!!!
Although they make you work very hard to get there (almost 2.5 miles straight up hill if you walk) even if you go by bus it is still a task to get there. But it is worth every step!
Bavaria it self was everything I imagined it to be. Beautiful sweeping hills with forests, tall majestic mountains with beautiful pastures beneath them.
Come enjoy the journey!
I’m so happy you are joining us!
